The occasional (and long) walk home
I don’t do it too often, but occasionally I do walk home to Adams-Morgan from the office in Georgetown. It’s a good walk no matter what, made more comfortable you could say by the cold weather. During the summer, this is a sweat-inducing trek, but in Thursday evening’s bitter cold, my brisk pace kept me warm during the 45 minute walk.
Nonetheless, my trek takes me down M Street to either 30th or 31st Street where I turn up into the residential area of the hood. I weave my way to Q Street up near 28th or so, where I follow that across Rock Creek Park to Florida Avenue, Connecticut Avenue, and then Columbia Road.
I’ve got a slew of ideas for nighttime photos around Dupont Circle, but this was one I had never really considered until I got to the Q Street Bridge over the park that Thursday. Messing around with some of my digital camera’s settings, I got this with a 2.5 second exposure time. Not bad I think… but I hope to retry this with color film and the good ol’ SLR sometime, maybe once it warms up. We’ll see…
