Ten on Tuesday

874900151. No, I did not forget to post yesterday. I actually took a vacation day as it was the home opener for the Washington Nationals. They played the defending World Series champs Philadelphia Phillies, hung in there, made a late comeback attempt, only to fall short. The Nationals are now 0-7 on the year. Yikes.

2. You’ll notice the photo of cherry blossoms accompanying this post. Nicole and I went out on April 4 to take some pictures, and I just picked up the prints yesterday morning from Penn Camera. Check out a Flickr set of my favorites from the day, or the whole roll here.

3. One of my friends from college who has been in the Peace Corps for the last two years is coming into town to visit for about a week. We’ll be going to a Nats game with him (as is coustomary) and I’m sure taking in some cold fermented beverages.

4. I’m sorry to do this to everyone, but I will be employing Google AdSense within the upcoming week or so today. They aren’t intrusive, so don’t hate…

5. On a whim last week, I joined a fantasy baseball league at espn.com. It’s going well so far, and is nowhere near as time consuming as I had thought (based on what other were telling me). I think I’m in last place in my league…

6. For the first time this season, I lost an APA pool match last Tuesday night. I was pissed… I’m now 7-1 on the year, and fully intend to return to my winning ways tonight.

7. The DC Government (specifically, the Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs, the agency that grants building permits) drives me absolutely crazy. I know I’m not the only one that feels this way…

8. Speaking of Opening Day, it was nice to see a bunch of people that I don’t get to see so often. Back when I was bartending at Buffalo Billiards, there was a group of people that were always willing to go see a ballgame, but since I’ve left, we’ve all lost touch with each other and going to all those ballgames has become a thing of the past. Opening Day has been the one day over the past two years that we have in fact all gotten together for a game… and this year was just the same.

9. On a local development note, it seems as though the locally-protected Third Church of Christ, Scientist will be coming down. I’ve been on the fence about the whole issue and am in no position to provide an informed opinion about it either way, but I do know that I’ll be grabbing a roll of film, my camera, and probably my tripod to take some day and evening pictures before it’s too late.

10. I have discovered Pandora, and I am pleased.
