Ten on Tuesday

IMG_35241. Yesterday, weather.com said that it was 83 degrees but I swear it felt like it was about 100 here. Today, the forecasted high is 89, so I wonder what that will feel like come 300pm. Oh, and it was 84 degrees in my office when I left yesterday. Fun.

2. My body is still aching from helping my friends move this past Sunday. I mean everything: thighs, feet, arms, back. Even my hands hurt. I need to get back into shape.

3. Nicole and I watched Trainspotting last night… I’ve seen it before, back in the day, but it was her first time. I feel bad because there are a lot of movies that she hadn’t seen in the past that were wildly popular (and made sense) in their time, but just now seeing them for the first time, she always has this kind of reaction like, “Oh, that’s all it was, and you guys love/d this movie?” Oh well, at least she’s seen it now.

4. A highlight of the weekend was seeing Jacoby Ellsbury pull off a straight steal of home plate in the 5th inning of Sunday’s victory over the Yanks. It hadn’t happend in Major League Baseball since 2007 and is one of the more exciting plays that can happen. It was truly awesome to see because, as people in the know will tell you, the chance may come but only a few times in your career.

5. Man, do the Nationals really stink. They held an 11-7 lead over the Phillies last night at Citizens Bank Park, and somehow found a way to blow it. It’s got to be the sixth or seventh game this year where the Nationals had the lead late and found a way to lose. Their bats have finally come alive, but seriously, way to go, bullpen!

6. Pasta Fair in Orange, CT, one of my favorite restaurants growing up as a child, has closed. The first thing I remember about that place was the huge portions of pasta. My dad always got a pizza there. And when I was working nearby in high school, I used to get bread from their bakery to snack on during the day. I’ll miss that place.

7. Way to go, DOD.

8. I’ll be playing Euchre again on Friday night for the first time in quite a while. I can’t seem to get any of my friends to play it with enough regularity, so when we do, we’ll play a few games and then they all get tired of it and want to move on to something else. Boo.

9. I’ve been tipped off about Jockey’s Ridge State Park on the Outer Banks in North Carolina. Just another reason for me to bitch about it actually being late April instead of late May. Don’t worry, I’ll have plenty of film with me.

10. I’m ready for the weekend, aren’t you?
