The Monday Morning Post
Talbot! My buddy from college has returned to the DC area for some time. He’s been in The Gambia for the last two years as a volunteer with the Peace Corps. As he is allowed to do several times every year, he has travelled back stateside to visit family and friends at random locations throughout the country. He came in on Wednesday night last week and will be heading out on Tuesday. Unfortunately, we were hoping to catch the Nationals game tonight, but the weather is just not cooperating.
In other news, Nicole and I passed on taking a quick weekend trip up to New York for a surprise 40th birthday party for my sister’s husband. It’s just an awful lot of driving for so little time, and Saturday was also Nicole’s birthday. Instead of taking the trip, we went out on Saturday afternoon for some day drinking, got home at a reasonable hour, continued to enjoy the spectacular weather by playing some cards together on our balcony, and called the night rather early.
Sunday was rather pedestrian for us; Nicole and I took care of a variety of errands that had been on the back burner for a while. We had to go grocery shopping hardcore, so we got that out of the way in the morning. We also made a stop at the Target in Columbia Heights for some odds and ends. We grabbed some lunch at Fuddruckers and then did some more shopping for Nicole this time… she had to update her work wardrobe, so we stopped by the H&M and Filene’s Basement, both near Metro Center.
And now I’m here at work, and the weather freaking stinks! From what I can make of the ten day forecast on weather.com, though, it looks like this is going to be one of the last cool cold days of the spring… thank god!
